M\ufeffelbourne<\/a> has suffered a major blow to its halves depth with talented youngster Jonah Pezet out for the remainder of the year.<\/p>\n

The Storm on Monday revealed Pezet ruptured an anterior cruciate ligament while playing Queensland Cup<\/a> at the weekend.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old playmaker \ufeffwent down with the knee injury while playing for Brisbane Easts Tigers against Tweed Seagulls.<\/p>\n

"Jonah has been in good form this season and has already shown his ability to play at NRL level," Storm football boss Frank Ponissi said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"Whilst this is extremely disappointing for Jonah and the club, we will support him and his recovery to ensure he has every opportunity to get back on the field as soon as possible."<\/p>\n

Pezet played seven NRL games last year and has long been earmarked as a long-term playmaker for Melbourne.<\/p>\n

He played the first three games of this season while Cameron Munster was out injured.<\/p>\n

His season-ending injury will haunt the Storm if either of Munster or Jahrome Hughes are unavailable for selection.<\/p>\n
