T\ufeffhe tension between Sam Wicks and his Swans<\/a> teammates apparently hasn't completely dissipated just yet.<\/p>\n

Wicks was temporarily removed from club duties \ufeffearlier this month following reports of a stoush with other players<\/a> on a night out.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old was accused of acting inappropriately towards one teammate's former girlfriend, and was reportedly confronted while at team drinks.<\/p>\n

While the Swans investigated the matter and found the small forward had done nothing wrong, they opted to remove him from the group for a week in an effort to pour cold water on the \ufeffsaga.<\/p>\n

But any lingering bad blood between the parties appeared to be on display during Sunday's game against Hawthorn at the MCG.<\/p>\n

\ufeffWicks has kicked two goals in each of his games since returning to the Sydney line-up, and hit the scoreboard again against the Hawks.<\/p>\n

He booted his first during the first quarter and \ufeffreceived a couple of high-fives from other Swans, as almost always happens when a goal is kicked.<\/p>\n

But his second goal came in the second quarter to put his team 44 points up, and this one received less – in fact, no – celebration from teammates.<\/p>\n

Wicks strolled into an empty goal square and kicked the major, before turning around and looking for someone to celebrate with, but found no one within reach.<\/p>\n

He proceeded to run more than 60 metres up the ground to where several Swans had gathered to receive a drink, and still no one was interested in a high-five or a pat on the back for Wicks.<\/p>\n

Even after having a drink and turning back to return to their starting positions, none of his forward-50 mates saw the need to acknowledge Wicks.<\/p>\n

News Corp reports there is lingering tension within the group over Wicks' off-field actions.<\/p>\n

When the incident first came to light, Caroline Wilson explained to Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> just how serious it was.<\/p>\n

"Don't worry – tempers were flaring, and it wasn't just the two players\ufeff who it was causing friction between," Wilson said.<\/p>\n

"A lot of the playing group were very upset by this."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Any issue within the playing group hasn't hampered the Swans on the field, who sit second on the AFL ladder after thumping the Hawks.\ufeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
