Former Kangaroos<\/a> star and league personality Terry Hill has died of a heart attack.<\/p>\n

Hill is believed to have suffered a massive heart attack in the Philippines. He was only 52.<\/p>\n

A colourful character, he played 246 first grade games for Souths<\/a>, Easts<\/a>, Wests, Manly<\/a> and Wests Tigers<\/a> between 1990 and 2003 and went on to star on Channel Nine's The Footy Show.<\/p>\n

South Sydney legend Craig Coleman was shocked when his phone exploded with news of Hill's passing on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"I was swimming, got out of the pool and had about 20 texts – I am devastated," Coleman told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"Terry was one of the game's real characters and a great player.<\/p>\n

"I'd watched him come through Souths as a kid he was a proud Souths junior and we always knew he was destined for big things."<\/p>\n

Hill was in the Philippines helping raise money for an orphanage.<\/p>\n

"That's the kind of bloke he was – had a heart of gold," Coleman said.<\/p>\n

"He'd been there for a couple of weeks and rang a mate and said he wasn't feeling well. The mate told him to lie down\u2026 apparently he went to sleep and never woke up – it's a sad day for the game."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
