Melbourne<\/a> captain Max Gawn<\/a> believes GWS<\/a> skipper Toby Greene<\/a> will face an "uphill" battle getting off his one-week suspension for a hit on Carlton's Jordan Boyd in round six<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, match review officer\ufeff Michael Christian graded Greene's offence as careless conduct of medium impact and high contract and handed him a one-match ban as punishment.<\/p>\n

In the fourth quarter, Greene leapt into the air in a marking contest, extending his leg and turning his body at the last second as Boyd also left the ground to contest the ball.<\/p>\n

The clash saw Greene's shoulder collide with Boyd's head after he ran back with the flight of the ball. Boyd was awarded a free kick for the contact.<\/p>\n

Greene's history with the Tribunal isn't a pretty one.<\/p>\n

He has been charged 23 times, paid $29,000 in fines and been suspended for 15 weeks.<\/p>\n

Gawn says he fears the 2023 All-Australian captain's case won't be an easy one to win when he heads to the Tribunal on Tuesday night.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Toby's pushing up-hill to use the good bloke card," Gawn said on Triple M Radio's Marty Sheargold Show on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Melbourne's skipper\ufeff also declared that Greene's action is being looked at the same way the dangerous sling tackle is by the MRO.<\/p>\n

"This is the new sling tackle for 2024, going for a mark and getting someone. It seems to be that every year there's a new Tribunal decision where you go, 'wow, that's out of the game now," he said.<\/p>\n

But despite Gawn's opinion that Greene's action is a suspendable oence, he says some o his Demons teammates weren't so sure.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It feels like it's now going for a mark and defending yourself. When I watched it, I thought, 'yeah, he's suspended', but it split the change rooms yesterday," Gawn said.<\/p>\n

The Giants may also be without another important cog against Brisbane, with key forward Jesse Hogan<\/a> also banned.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Hogan was handed a one-game ban for striking Carlton defender Lewis Young off the ball in the final term.<\/p>\n

He will join Greene\ufeff at the Tribunal on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Because the hit occurred behind play, the offence was graded as intentional conduct of low impact and high contract.<\/p>\n

"Hoges (Jesse Hogan) is a great bloke, so he'll get off," Gawn joked.<\/p>\n
