League icon Phil Gould<\/a> has pleaded with the Australian Rugby League Commission<\/a> Peter V'landys<\/a> to try and keep Joey Manu<\/a> in the game as his potential move to rugby union lingers.<\/p>\n

The Roosters are unlikely to be able to keep the 27-year-old with James Tedesco playing fullback and Manu set to command big money.<\/p>\n

Manu previously outlined to 9News in February his desire to play rugby<\/a> and potentially represent the All Blacks. \ufeff<\/p>\n

After Manu starred at fullback for the Roosters against Newcastle, Gould expressed his disappointment at potentially \ufefflosing the superstar to another club.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I understand the Roosters probably can't afford to keep Joe with the money he'll command in the salary cap," he said on Nine's 100% Footy<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"What I am disappointed in is the prospect of him going to another code which just seems to happen with a lot of Roosters players.<\/p>\n

"If the Roosters can't have them, no one else can. They don't mind them going off to other rugby codes or going over to England or France. It's like they don't want to allow them to play for another club.<\/p>\n

Gould went on to call for V'landys to step in, labelling a previously flagged 'war chest' against rugby union<\/a> as "fake news". \ufeff<\/p>\n

"If I'm Peter V'landys I'm making sure Joey Manu doesn't leave this game," he said.<\/p>\n
