Unwanted Manly<\/a> star Josh Schuster has spoken publicly for the first time since it was announced he has permission to leave the club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Schuster's $800,000-a-season three-year deal with the Sea Eagles does not start until the 2025 season, but he could be in new colours by then if a club signs him up.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old has failed to play first grade this season after Luke Brooks<\/a> took his five-eighth spot while Ben Trbojevic has been preferred at second row.<\/p>\n

Schuster, who is on two weeks personal leave from club duties, explained he needs "time and space" after Manly's shock call. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I know I'm at a really important stage of my career \u2013 I don't want to waste my talent," he told The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"I'm disappointed that things are not working out at Manly because I was really hoping to make it here.<\/p>\n

"Right now I have to admit my mind is on lots of other things. I need time and space to get it right.<\/p>\n

"I know I will with the support of my family and friends … and I really have the desire to make it back, get to the top and stay there for a long time."<\/p>\n

After Schuster was given permission to negotiate with rivals, reports suggested all 16 NRL clubs have ruled out trying to lure the utility.<\/p>\n

However, the 22-year-old's manager Mario Tartak told the Herald\ufeff<\/em> that's not the case.<\/em><\/p>\n

"Currently, Josh is on leave for two weeks for personal reasons and it's paramount that his welfare comes first," he said.<\/p>\n

"The amount of support shown from the NRL community has been overwhelming.<\/p>\n

"Several clubs have shown interest, although we will assess and take our time in making any decision."<\/p>\n
