S\ufeffouth Sydney Rabbitohs<\/a> chief executive officer Blake Solly has backed Jason Demetriou<\/a> to stay in the job after the side's loss to Cronulla<\/a>. <\/p>\n

While Souths were on the wrong side of a 34-22 scoreline on Saturday, the side showed enough encouraging signs to suggest they support Demetriou. <\/p>\n

The Rabbitohs now have the bye as the club considers its future direction considering they're currently last. <\/p>\n

\ufeff"The board and management will be conferring informally over the next few days to assess the team's progress," chairman Nick Pappas told The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In a wide-ranging interview with the Herald, Solly \ufeffdescribed South Sydney's performance as "brave" on Saturday and responded "I don't see any reason why not" when asked if Demetriou will coach against Melbourne after the bye. <\/p>\n

In the lead up to his side's clash with the Sharks, Demetriou conducted a 30-second press conference where he refused to discuss any pressure he was feeling personally. <\/p>\n

Solly said that press conference "wasn't a big issue for me" before praising Demetriou for his classy where he passed on the Rabbitohs' "thoughts and prayers" to everyone impacted by a deadly stabbing spree in Bondi's Westfield shopping centre<\/a><\/p>\n

"That's a measure of the person he is," he added. <\/p>\n

With the Rabbitohs conceding 196 points this season – the most in the NRL – a perception has started that Demetriou has lost the dressing room. <\/p>\n

South Sydney's boss believes that's not the case after Saturday's loss. <\/p>\n

Solly also addressed any concerns around his future as reports swirl around the club's appetite to have current Tigers CEO Shane Richardson return.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I don't know if there are people within the club who want to see me gone, but of course, at the end of the day the buck stops with the CEO and our start to the season hasn't been good enough," he said. <\/p>\n
