With only one win under his belt, Jason Demetriou<\/a> may have coached his last game for South Sydney<\/a> as the Rabbitohs recorded their fifth loss of the season against the Sharks<\/a> 34-22.<\/p>\n

Reports claim the Rabbitohs coach will meet with club officials to discuss the outlook of his immediate future at the helm of the club, with speculation he could be sacked during the team's bye week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Fox League's post-match broadcast, former Queensland Maroons coach Mal Meninga revealed the Rabbitohs have not approached him despite being named as the top candidate to replace Demetriou.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I haven't had any conversations with the club at all, but for whatever reason I seem to be attached to this," he said.<\/p>\n

"They haven't approached me at all."<\/p>\n

The night was over before it began, as South Sydney was quickly struck down by injury, losing three players in the space of 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

Jacob Host was taken off for a HIA assessment and later cleared to return, replacing an injured Ty Munro, who was ruled out of the game with a shoulder injury.<\/p>\n

Junior Tatola followed, captured limping back to the sheds before returning in a moon boot. Going left from the scrum play, the Sharks found Ronaldo Mulitalo out on the wing, who broke down the line and dived into goal, clearing a strong defensive effort from three Rabbitohs.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Despite a heavy injury toll, \ufeffthe Souths spun a kick into Michael Chee, who stepped inside past Jesse Ramien and Nicho Hynes to slip over the line and take the lead.<\/p>\n

Twenty-year-old Souths debutant Jye Gray was crushed by Mulitalo and removed for a HIA. He received clearance to return with one minute of play remaining.<\/p>\n

A Hynes bomb soared and was caught by Mulitalo, who offloaded back to Teig Wilton to step over and score.<\/p>\n

A line break by Cronulla lock Cameron McInnes<\/a> saw the Sharks make easy metres, with the ball going down the line and chipped over to the wing for Mulitalo to score his second of the night.<\/p>\n

Souths captain Cameron Murray<\/a> joined a growing South's injury camp, failing his HIA test after coping a forearm to the jaw.<\/p>\n

A pass by Braydon Trindall to Sione Katoa went over the head of South Sydney's Isaiah Tass, as the Sharks winger launched over the line from two metres out to increase the side's lead.<\/p>\n

Awarded a penalty for a strip, the Rabbitohs powered back in attack. A long ball by Dean Hawkins hit the ground but was picked up by Taane Milne, who charged his way over in the corner.<\/p>\n

Setting up for what could have been his third try of the night, Mulitalo knocked the ball back to Teig Wilton, sending the second-rower over to claim a double.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Saliva Havili charged through the middle of the ruck and offloaded to Tom Burgess, who powered over the line for the Rabbitohs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cameron McInnes was placed on report for a head-high tackle and opened space for Isaiah Tass to go over in the corner, bringing the South's back into the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
