Adelaide Crows<\/a> sub Sam Berry is his club's new hero, kicking the winning goal as teammate Mark Keane pulled off a special last-gasp defensive mark to defeat Carlton<\/a> 100-98 on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

\ufeffComing from 16-points down in the final minutes of the match, the Crows kicked the last two goals and kept the Blues to two points.<\/p>\n

It was Adelaide's first win of the season\ufeff and a major upset against the previously undefeated Blues at Marvel Stadium.<\/p>\n

The Blues fell apart in the final minutes, with Matt Owies stubbing the ball and managing to miss the goals completely, which in turn became a chance for the Crows to capitalise.\ufeff<\/p>\n

And capitalise they did. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Obviously going 0-4 we wanted to get one on the board," star forward Izak Rankine said post match.<\/p>\n

"Traditionally we probably gave up earlier this year, end of last year, but we just fought it out\ufeff."<\/p>\n

Earlier in the week, Crows coach Matthew Nicks \ufeffpromised his side would come out with a fresh look to compete against the Blues<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He also hinted at a move for Rankine from the forward line into the middle, which proved the perfect choice on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Rankine collected 23 disposals and also had his fair share of goals with three.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"(Nicks) Put me on the ball, add a little bit of spark in there, Nicksy gave me that trust, I hope I earned that trust," he said.<\/p>\n

Nicks said during the week that he was endeavouring to tackle the suggestions some players are overthinking things.<\/p>\n

"What we do know is we're taking steps in the right direction," he said.<\/p>\n

"We're not adding more detail, we're stripping back – not that we've got a hell of a lot of detail in there," Nicks explained.<\/p>\n

"We don't need anyone to come in and do anything special, it's come in and play your role."<\/p>\n
