The words of Queensland Reds<\/a> coach Les Kiss pre-match ultimately came back to haunt him.<\/p>\n

He spoke of little timeframes before half-time, after half-time, and just before the end of the game.<\/p>\n

Indeed, it was the final act of the game that condemned the hopes of the Reds when they let Moana Pasifika slip through and score the game-winning try.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, ill-discipline cost the Reds a chance to win. All told, it was 17-14 to Moana Pasifika.<\/p>\n

"I\ufeffncredibly frustrating," said Liam Wright on Stan Sport's coverage.<\/p>\n

\"Tate<\/p>\n

"A lot of errors and ill-discipline from us which is just hard to come back from. <\/p>\n

"Moana played a quality game, they forced those errors out of us, made it tough, and capitalised on moments.<\/p>\n

"As you said, I thought there was a lot of courage. We found our moments at the back end of the game and unfortunately ill-discipline is just rubbing out a few for us."<\/p>\n

Tate McDermott's swinging arm cost the Reds a try that would have sealed victory, while Fraser McReight's send-off at the death caught them short in the final stanza.<\/p>\n

Kiss said Moana Pasifika "deserve the win" after profiting from the Reds' mistakes.<\/p>\n

\"Reds<\/p>\n

"It was too up and down, wasn't it? We started the game, 20 minutes in we made six or seven errors," said Kiss.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"We controlled field position and we didn't convert. We've done that a couple of times this year and it's been costly – not in every game.<\/p>\n

"It puts us on the back foot. We don't nail that pressure \ufeffon when we should have.<\/p>\n

"The second half, we gained a bit of momentum and a couple of incidents took the momentum away.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

Kiss said the cards ultimately killed their hopes.<\/p>\n

\"\u2018The<\/p>\n

"That was pressure back on top of ourselves," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffWe entered the competition at this stage with the least penalties against us, no yellow cards, and suddenly … when it rains, it pours.<\/p>\n

"We've got to be better, we have to be better."\ufeff<\/p>\n
