A\ufeffndrew Johns<\/a> has been left stunned after Kalyn Ponga<\/a> played out a full match despite suffering a hip injury in his side's loss to the Roosters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Knights fullback kicked the ball off after the Roosters scored in the 16th minute and immediately grimaced before clutching at his hip.<\/p>\n

Ponga then continued to limp around in the next two sets, with league great Cameron Smith stating: "I think he's done here Kalyn."\ufeff<\/p>\n

"That vision when he kicked off, he grabbed straight for that left hip flexor. He's gone," NRL Immortal Andrew Johns added on Nine. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Ponga stayed on for the whole first half and played a part in Brandon Smith's try, when he struggled to get out of marker as the hooker strolled over untouched.<\/p>\n

Cameron Smith described the four-pointer as the "easiest try you'll find in the NRL". \ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeff"Surely someone has to make the decision about Kalyn Ponga and get him off the field \ufeff… the decision has to be taken off the player," Johns added.<\/p>\n

At half-time, Ponga was originally not sighted in the group when coach Adam O'Brien delivered his half-time talk.<\/p>\n

The fullback returned despite trainer Blake Green admitting he was "struggling". \ufeff<\/p>\n

Post-game, Ponga admitted there was some assistance after he played out the full match. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Few needles at half-time definitely \ufeffhelped, it shouldn't be too bad I think I just banged my hip," he told Nine.<\/p>\n

"I was never going to come off myself. I got to half-time \ufeffand just waited to see how it was and I was sweet in the second half."<\/p>\n

The Knights started well when Jackson Hastings scored first, before Ponga kicked a penalty goal a few minutes later.<\/p>\n

Daniel Tupou's try in the 16th minute helped the Roosters click into gear, with the Roosters leading \ufeff16-8 after tries to Victor Radley and Smith.<\/p>\n

Bradman Best's four-pointer right on half-time kept it interesting with the Roosters leading 16-14 at the break.<\/p>\n

Both sides struggled to score points in the second half, with Tupou scoring his second in the 64th minute to give his side a 22-14 lead.<\/p>\n

Adam Elliott's try with four minutes remaining then set up a grandstand finish.<\/p>\n

The Knights had two big chances in the final set with Kalyn Ponga breaking through but he had no support.<\/p>\n

On the fifth tackle, Elliott beat a number of defenders but once again couldn't find another Knights player near him.<\/p>\n

Jayden Brailey then attempted a grubber from hooker \ufeffwith Terrell May taking it cleanly as the Roosters won 22-20.<\/p>\n

The win may have come at a cost for the Roosters though, with Sitili Tupouniua playing two minutes before he was ruled out with a category one concussion. \ufeff<\/p>\n
