B\ufeffrisbane Lions<\/a> goal sneak Charlie Cameron<\/a> could come under fire after a sling tackle against Melbourne<\/a> defender Jake Lever<\/a> during the Lions 22-point win on Thursday night at the MCG.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred late in the first quarter, with Lever being tackled in the Lions' forward fifty\ufeff by Cameron, before being slung to the ground and hitting his head on the turf.<\/p>\n

Lever did continue to play, showing no adverse affects of the head hit, however, Cameron will likely land in hot water with the MRO come next week.<\/p>\n

Geelong legend Joel Selwood \ufeffwas quick to assume the small forward will face the music next week.<\/p>\n

"Dump tackle here from Charlie Cameron, he's had a good start to the game, (but) you don't want to be giving free kicks way in your forward 50 when you're a small forward," Selwood said on 7.<\/p>\n

"(Cameron) may be in a little bit of trouble, but it will be looked at I'm sure."<\/p>\n

The AFL has cracked down hard on sling tackles in 2024, particularly as protection of the head and long term trauma awareness continues to grow.<\/p>\n

The league updated their rulings in the wake of Melbourne midfielder Angus Brayshaw's medical retirement due to head trauma before the 2024 season began.<\/p>\n
