Queensland great Darren Lockyer<\/a> says Reece Walsh<\/a> is ready to return, with the Broncos<\/a> star named to play against the Dolphins on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old was initially reported to be out of the game for between four to six weeks\ufeff but has missed just two matches with a facial fracture following an ugly head clash with Panthers Taylan May<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lockyer revealed the Brisbane fullback did not undergo surgery following the game, presumably suffering from a "minor facial fracture".<\/p>\n

"I think the fact he didn't need to get operated on meant that it was a minor fracture," he said on Wide World of Sports' QLDER<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

"In today's game, obviously the head \ufeffis well protected even though there is contact with the head, which we've seen a bit of as of late.<\/p>\n

"He's gonna wear the headgear. You just \ufeffhave to get through the first couple of tackles and away you go. The doctors wouldn't let him go out there if he wasn't capable."<\/p>\n

Immortal Wally Lewis added: "If there's any suggestion of long-term damage I don't think they would make the decision to gamble.<\/p>\n

"While it might be the coach and the player reminding the doctor that they would like to be playing… Serious injuries like that can't be gambled \ufefftoo often. I think there will be a common sense decision made."<\/p>\n

Lockyer recalled his own experiences returning to play, revealing what happened during his infamous chopper ride to Sydney after suffering a facial fracture during the Broncos' 13-12 victory over St George Illawarra<\/a> in the 2011 prelim finals<\/p>\n

"It brought back some memories when Reece did his \ufeffinjury because he had to come back on the bus," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffPrelim against St George\ufeff… we won the game in golden point and I got a fractured cheekbone out of it. I had an operation the next day and I asked the doctor – I said 'we've got a game next week in Sydney against Manly<\/a> and he goes well first of all you can't fly high altitude.<\/p>\n

"So I sat there for a couple of minutes and thought, 'what about low altitude?' \ufeffI had a mate who had a chopper so he gave me a lift. I remember leaving training and there was a stealth car ready to take me.<\/p>\n
