N\ufefforth Melbourne<\/a> president Dr Sonja Hood has deleted her X account after confirming she wants no part in the "revolting" abuse she has received.<\/p>\n

Hood has been receiving negative messages online as the Kangaroos come under fire for their game style and poor 0-4 start to the season.<\/p>\n

The messages and comments Hood has received on X, formerly Twitter, have driven her to remove herself completely from the online world.\ufeff<\/p>\n

9News Melbourne's chief football reporter Tom Morris explained why the Kangaroos leader has been forced to \ufeffdelete her account.<\/p>\n

"She has been forced to delete her Twitter account in the last couple of days simply because of the vile abuse she's been copping," Morris told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

\"Hood<\/p>\n

"(She has received threats on) North Melbourne, the way they're playing, people tagging her in tweets so they know she's going to see them\ufeff.<\/p>\n

"This is a call she hasn't made lightly, but this is a call she's made simply because the abuse has been so vile towards her\ufeff."<\/p>\n

Hood spoke exclusively to Morris, expressing her pain in deleting her account after her club's loss during Gather Round.<\/p>\n

North Melbourne were demolished by the Brisbane Lions by 70 points in round four, their fourth consecutive loss and their biggest deficit of the season.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"The banter I have with Kane (Cornes) is fun and good natured," Hood told Morris on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

"But the stuff I copped on the weekend, which wasn't related to Kane, was out of line and revolting.<\/p>\n

"I don't feel the need to be part of that world."\ufeff\ufeff<\/p>\n

Hood's presence on social media elevated her status and influence with North Melbourne supporters, as well as more broadly across the game.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"This is a person\ufeff that largely has forged her identity in football, as president of the North Melbourne football club, online," Morris said.<\/p>\n
