In a surprise turn of events, Erebus Motorsport<\/a> has confirmed Brodie Kostecki<\/a> will return to the team at the third round of the Supercars<\/a> season.<\/p>\n

Despite rumours of animosity between Kostecki and the team's CEO Barry Ryan, last year's champion has confirmed he will return to the team at the Taup\u014d Super400.<\/p>\n

Kostecki will join Jack Le Brocq at the Dandenong South-based outfit, meaning Todd Hazelwood will cede his place in the team as a fill-in.<\/p>\n

Ahead of his shock return in Taup\u014d, Kostecki will test with the team at Winton Motor Raceway.<\/p>\n

"I'm excited to be back behind the wheel again. I needed some time away to prioritise my health," said Kostecki.<\/p>\n

"I'm grateful for the support, privacy and time Betty, Barry, and the team have given me."<\/p>\n

Erebus Motorsport has been in something of a holding brief.<\/p>\n

Wide World of Sports understands Kostecki cited mental health issues for his sabbatical.<\/p>\n

"On behalf of Betty and the team, we are pleased Brodie is ready to drive again," said Ryan.<\/p>\n

"Having Brodie back to work alongside Jack as he becomes more familiar with our cars will be a positive for our entire team."<\/p>\n

Hazelwood will return to the team later this year at the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 where he will co-drive.<\/p>\n

"A big thanks to Todd; he performed brilliantly under considerable pressure and scrutiny, so hats off to him," said Ryan.<\/p>\n
