League legend Andrew Johns<\/a> has urged Roosters<\/a> captain James Tedesco<\/a> to address his tackling technique after he suffered another concussion during the Chooks' 26-30 loss to the Bulldogs on Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tedesco was ruled out of the match early after being knocked out while trying to tackle Viliame Kikau. His concussion was ruled to have category one symptoms.<\/p>\n

\ufeffTedesco attempted to tackle Kikau on the 10m line as the second rower sprinted down the left-hand side towards the Roosters' tryline.<\/p>\n

With little space at his disposal, \ufeffTedesco positioned himself in front of Kikau and the pair made heavy head-on contact.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Nine's The<\/em> Sunday Footy Show<\/em><\/a>, league legend \ufeffJohns argued an element of poor technique from Tedesco made himself vulnerable to injury.<\/p>\n

"He takes his eyes off \ufeffthe target," he said.<\/p>\n

"You've got to keep your chin on your chest but you've still got to keep your eye on the target.<\/p>\n

"Teddy (Tedesco) gets into this situation with his last two steps as he drops his head.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIf you're going to make that tackle you need to keep your chin on your chest and keep your eye on your target \u2014 where you're going to hit.<\/p>\n

"He drops his head \ufeffand loses his technique."<\/p>\n

One of the greatest \ufefffullbacks to ever play the game, Billy Slater<\/a> \ufeffalso suggested that Tedesco could have got into position earlier to reduce the force.<\/p>\n

Using \ufeffPanther Dylan Edwards as an example, Slater highlighted moving earlier so that the fullback gets to the threat as they break through rather than arriving at the scene late.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffLike, you start anticipating the linebreak and you move across there earlier so you're not moving as fast right at the contact," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeff[He can get there and] steady up because you're not moving as fast."<\/p>\n

Slater rejected the notion that Tedesco should have \ufeffinvited Kikau to make a break for the corner post before using his strength to tackle him over touch as the rules of the game stipulate that a player has "got to make a conventional tackle".<\/p>\n

"\ufeffBy the rules, he's done the right thing. It's just put him in a really awkward position," Slater said.<\/p>\n

Tedesco's latest concussion marked the 10th \ufeffbrain injury of his 13-year career \u2014 but more concerningly his seventh in the past three seasons.<\/p>\n
