F\ufeffremantle<\/a> players have been left disgruntled after two controversial decisions cost them their round four game against Carlton<\/a> on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The Blues went on to win their fourth match of the season by 10 points, putting an end to Fremantle's undefeated run.<\/p>\n

The victory for Carlton at Adelaide Oval was decided by two umpiring decisions that sent Fremantle players into disarray, leaving spectators and commentators also confused.<\/p>\n

Down by two points with just 90 seconds left in the final term, Carlton midfielder George Hewett sent a kick into the Blues' forward 50, which was then duly marked by teammate Matthew Cottrell.<\/p>\n

However, Fremantle players caused an uproar when the mark was paid, confident defender James Aish had touched the ball before Cottrell marked it.<\/p>\n

The mark was paid by the umpire and Cottrell went back to slot a goal and hand Carlton a four-point lead.<\/p>\n

With under a minute left to play, the dispute from Dockers players continued, causing even more chaos for the men in purple.<\/p>\n

Fremantle players argued that Hewett's kick inside the Blues' forward line was touched off Aish's shoulder, causing the ball to deviate in the air.<\/p>\n

The arguing didn't sit right with the umpires, who, seconds later, awarded Car\ufefflton with another shot at goal, this time via a free kick, with umpire dissent paid against Dockers players.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe ball returned from the centre circle to give Blue Matthew Kennedy a shot from directly in front, 30 metres out, after Docker Jordan Clark was punished for umpire abuse.<\/p>\n

The Blues slotted their second major and went on to win the match by 10 points in disorderly scenes.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir declared his playing group believed they had touched the ball well after the game had finished.<\/p>\n

"The players clearly thought they had touched the footy and they're still saying that now," Longmuir said post-match.<\/p>\n

However, the coach admitted his side would need to mentally overcome the loss and quickly refocus on getting back on the winners list.<\/p>\n

"We just need to move on because the umpires are never gonna backtrack … they (Dockers players) should have just got on with it," Longmuir said.<\/p>\n

Hawthorn legend Jason Dunstall slammed Fremantle's inability to stay composed in the dying seconds<\/p>\n

"They lost their cool. They lost their cool when they thought the ball was touched off the boot and the umpire didn't pay it," Dunstall said on Fox Footy post-match.<\/p>\n

Carlton now sit undefeated with four wins. They'll face the winless Adelaide next week.<\/p>\n
