PHILAEDELPHIA: <\/strong>S\ufeffix years ago, Trick Williams was part of the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> training camp as his bid to become an NFL<\/a> star edged closer.<\/p>\n

Fast-forward to this weekend and the 29-year-old is now on the cusp of creating history for WWE<\/a> in 'The City of Brotherly Love' against one of his closest friends.<\/p>\n

Williams has received a monumental groundswell of support from wrestling fans across the globe during his meteoric rise under the NXT banner.<\/p>\n

His mix of confidence, authenticity and athleticism has made Williams a fan-favourite in WWE's developmental brand and on Sunday morning (AEDT), he has the opportunity to headline a premium live event at the Wells Fargo Center.<\/p>\n

Standing in his way is close friend turned bitter rival, Carmelo Hayes, with the pair's feud producing some of WWE's best programming in the early months of 2024. <\/p>\n

Speaking to Wide World Of Sports<\/em> on the eve of NXT Stand and Deliver, Williams acknowledged the growing support from the crowd and hopes to stamp his mark on the biggest weekend in WWE history.<\/p>\n

"That's always what you want, but you can't ever expect it," he said.<\/p>\n

"I just live in the moment every single day and try to make the most of it. Today they [the fans] are with me and I'll make the most out of this moment.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I always reflect, but I don't know how I'm gonna feel yet. I'm ready to go to war, he was my brother and I've got nothing but love for him, but this one here is personal."<\/p>\n

WWE 2K24 celebrates 40 Years of WrestleMania, allowing players to experience the stories of WWE's most iconic Superstars and Legends<\/em><\/p>\n

Williams signed his WWE developmental contract a little over three years ago, making the switch from football to pro wrestling and growing under the NXT learning tree of the legendary Shawn Michaels.<\/p>\n

Hayes on the other hand was an independent wrestling standout, dazzling fans across North America before finally landing a deal with WWE. \ufeff<\/p>\n

And while a lot of the lessons Williams has been taught came inside the company's famed Performance Centre in Orlando, Williams also heaped praise on Hayes for his contribution to his success.<\/p>\n

"What I have learned most from Melo is the attention to detail he pays inside of the ring – my in-ring ability has definitely improved just by being alongside him, training with him, watching him move for a very long time," he said.<\/p>\n

"I think I've helped him bring that extra edge, bring that swagger out and open that shirt a little bit, let the people feel it. <\/p>\n

"We have definitely complimented each other in numerous ways, which is why we are at where we are at."<\/p>\n

Williams and Hayes will main event the NXT Stand and Deliver show on WrestleMania weekend, becoming the first two black men to reach the pinnacle of the brand. \ufeff<\/p>\n
