W\ufeffestern Bulldogs<\/a> coach Luke Beveridge<\/a> has explained his left-field training tactics ahead of his side's clash with Geelong<\/a> on Saturday night as part of Gather Round in Adelaide.<\/p>\n

Beveridge's men were caught training with blindfolds on during their session in Melbourne on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Players were kicking set shots without the aid of their eyes, in a strange act that Beveridge believes is a confidence booster ahead of Saturday night's must-win.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I was hoping you wouldn't ask me about that," Beveridge said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"We try not to coach our boys too far outside the box, but that's as left field as we've done."<\/p>\n

The 2016 premiership coach explained the method behind the madness\ufeff, which saw all of his players cover their eyes at some point during the session.<\/p>\n

Players were forced to kick for goal from different angles\ufeff.<\/p>\n

"(We did it) Just to make them think about different things," Beveridge said.<\/p>\n

"(It) goes against logic, you actually watch the ball on to your boot on a set shot.<\/p>\n

"In a significant way, it helps reminds you that you need to do that."<\/p>\n

Meantime, Ed Richards returns from concussion protocols, while forward Cody Weightman was cleared of any damage to his elbow.<\/p>\n

However, ruckman-forward Rory Lobb will spend another weekend down in the VFL, with Beveridge remaining coy on when he'll return to the senior side, after being dropped on the eve of round two.<\/p>\n

Despite the hesitation on that front, the Dogs coach declared the 31-year-old is a "needed" player at the Kennel for years to come.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Absolutely, (Lobb is) significantly required and needed player at our club," Beveridge said.<\/p>\n

"I'd hope that the half a dozen years he's got left in him will be at our club."<\/p>\n
