T\ufeffim Tszyu<\/a> and the man he fought in an extraordinary bloodbath bout in Las Vegas, American Sebastian Fundora, have been suspended due to the injuries they suffered in the controversial showdown<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Nevada State Athletic Association (NSAC) announced on Wednesday (AEDT) that\ufeff Tszyu would not be allowed to fight until May 15, after an elbow to his head early in the clash caused relentless gushing and led to him having 10 stitches put in.<\/p>\n

Fundora, who had his nose broken early in the bout, has been suspended until September 27, but the 197-centimetre genetic freak\ufeff will also be allowed to resume fighting on May 15 provided he is cleared by an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist.<\/p>\n

Igor Goloubev, \ufeffTszyu's trainer and uncle, indicated the Australian would likely fight again late this year.<\/p>\n

"Six to nine months, I'd say. We won't do any sparring until we have a fight locked in. I work backwards from that date," Goloubev said.<\/p>\n

The Tszyu and Fundora camps had verbally agreed on a rematch\ufeff clause before the Las Vegas fight, which will be honoured in Australia on a date yet to be determined.<\/p>\n

The fight at T-Mobile Arena saw Fundora snatch the WBO belt from Tszyu and clinch the WBC strap to become the unified super welterweight champion.<\/p>\n

The Florida native scored a split-decision win after a 12-round fight infested with blood, with Tszyu blinded by claret streaming from his head and Fundora bleeding heavily from his mouth and nose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
