A\ufeffDELAIDE:<\/strong> Collingwood legend Dane Swan<\/a> joked that Dale Thomas would "pay for his sins" when the former teammates square off at The Gathering<\/em> fight night on Wednesday.<\/a><\/p>\n

'Daisy' Thomas' big "sin" was leaving the Magpies for Melbourne AFL rivals Carlton in 2014<\/a> – an act that Swan still finds unforgiveable.<\/p>\n

"I'm not a hateful person, I'm not an angry person but he's got to pay for his sins for going to Carlton," Swan told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"We're mates and we'll have quite a few beers after the fight, but once the bell goes I'm looking forward to punching him in the head."<\/p>\n

Swan was one of the AFL's best players and most colourful personalities during a glittering 258 game Collingwood career.<\/p>\n

He claims he has taken his boxing preparation seriously although his recent 40th birthday celebrations threw a spanner in the works.<\/p>\n

"I did Vegas for four nights and dropped 4.5 kg," Swan said.<\/p>\n

"So that was impressive, not a bad weight loss technique. I've trimmed up. I played at 95(kg), I'm about 88 now.<\/p>\n

"I can't really run that well but I can bounce around for eight minutes."<\/p>\n

Swan \ufeffsaid he had enjoyed boxing training to keep fit throughout his AFL career and so it was an easy decision to accept the challenge.<\/p>\n

He hadn't lifted a weight since retiring but felt he had some reasonable boxing skills and a useful right hook.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The no place to hide nature of boxing was both thrilling and terrifying.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"If you f–k up on the footy field you've got 17 blokes to look after you and you win or lose as a team," Swan explained.<\/p>\n

"You f–k up in here and you're on your bum. I prefer team sport so this is going to be a different experience, going out on your own.<\/p>\n

"It's not going to be a street fight. I want to show some skills and prove myself to my coaches. We'll see how we go and we all know the Mike Tyson quote – everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. If he punches me and it hurts, I'll probably have to f—ing lift up the power a little bit."<\/p>\n

With both being former Collingwood players, Swan wasn't entirely sure who the parochial Adelaide crowd would support.<\/p>\n

But he had an ace up his sleeve in the form of one of the city's most parochial acts.<\/p>\n

"They'll probably boo us both but I'm going to walk out to Hilltop Hoods. Hopefully I get a bit of pop from that," Swan said.<\/p>\n

\"Dane<\/p>\n

"But I imagine it will be just like footy. Once the bell goes, I can't imagine I'm going to hear a f—ing thing. When I was playing footy in front of 90,000, I couldn't tell you if the crowd was booing or not.<\/p>\n

"So hopefully when he's laying on his back, I might hear the crowd.<\/p>\n
