Tottenham<\/a> missed the chance to overtake Aston Villa<\/a> in the race for Champions League<\/a> qualification after settling for a 1-1 draw at West Ham<\/a> in the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brennan Johnson had given fifth-place Spurs an ideal start at London Stadium, but that was cancelled out by Kurt Zouma's leveler in the 19th.<\/p>\n

West Ham could have even gone on to win if Michail Antonio had been more ruthless with a second-half chance.<\/p>\n

The forward raced through on goal after an hour, but with only Guglielmo Vicario to beat, he fired straight at the Spurs goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

Spurs knew a big enough win would have seen them overtake fourth-place Villa on goal difference.<\/p>\n

And that looked like a possibility when the visitors raced into an early lead after Timo Werner burst past Vladimir Coufal and played in Johnson to convert from close range.<\/p>\n

But manager Ange Postecoglou was left frustrated when Jarrod Bowen\u2019s corner was turned in by an unmarked Zouma.<\/p>\n

The result left Tottenham two points behind Villa, having played the same number of games.<\/p>\n

Before Wednesday's game Aussie coach \ufeffPostecoglou had reaffirmed his belief Tottenham could contend for a Premier League title as early as next season.<\/p>\n

"As somebody said to me last week, 'Just do your job Ange', and my job is to come here and try to bring success," he said.<\/p>\n
