A\ufeffDELAIDE:<\/strong> AFL great Nathan Brown admits he is feeling the pressure of giving the baying mob what they want at The Gathering<\/em> fight night on Wednesday.<\/a><\/p>\n

Brown will make his boxing debut against television and podcast pal Kane Cornes<\/a>, whose forthright opinions make him one of the most divisive characters in the game.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"There's a lot of pressure on me to get the job done on Kane because he's annoyed so many people," Brown told reporters in Adelaide.<\/p>\n

"All the former players, there's been a lot of them saying 'I need you to get it done.' So I feel that pressure. But I enjoy what he says.<\/p>\n

"I enjoy what he does in the media. I think there's a spot for that and I think he's nailed that spot in the media and I love it. A lot of people don't, but I think what he does brings a fair bit of media attention to AFL football in a good way."<\/p>\n

Brown and Cornes weighed in at the Gather Round Spectacular on Tuesday night, with their height and reach virtually identical.<\/p>\n

However, Brown has a 5kg weight advantage over the former Port Adelaide champion.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"We've often joked that Kane looks like a corpse, he's got that skinny, but I'm looking at him right now and he's put on about four or five," Brown said.<\/p>\n

"I am nervous. He does look good. He's put on weight and he looks strong, and he's been posting all these photos. I reckon he's doing push ups before he posts those photos.<\/p>\n

\"Kane<\/p>\n

"It's weird when you're mates with somebody and you're going to go in the ring and you're going to try and punch him in the head.<\/p>\n

"I reckon I'm nervous for the first time since I've finished playing football. You just don't get that adrenaline rush anymore of elite sport. This would be the first time I've been able to get it for a long time and I can't wait for it\ufeff.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I thought that the footwork from football would transfer into the boxing world, but it's harder than what I thought."<\/p>\n

Cornes, considered one of the most competitive players of his era, also said he was nervous.<\/p>\n

"I've always enjoyed a challenge and it's probably been the biggest challenge that I've put my hand up for," he told reporters.<\/p>\n
