The Penrith Panthers have pulled off a major re-signing, with star centre Stephen Crichton agreeing to a two-year contract extension.<\/p>\n

Crichton will now remain in Penrith until at least the end of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old, who's played 26 games since making his debut in 2019, is understood to have drawn interest from rival teams, with fears he could have departed to a club willing to pay him more.<\/p>\n

Panthers great Ryan Girdler had previously warned his former club to do whatever they could to stop Crichton from taking "fullback money"<\/a> following fears he wanted a bigger role on the field.<\/p>\n

Crichton last season endured a breakout year with the Panthers, scoring 17 tries for the club from 22 appearances.<\/p>\n

"It's really exciting to know I'm going to be at Panthers for the next three years," Crichton said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"This is my home. I've grown up in this club and built strong relationships with everyone here. I've never wanted to play anywhere else.<\/p>\n

"To get the deal done before the season starts is massive and now I can focus on playing my best footy."<\/p>\n

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary added: "I'm very happy that 'Critta' will continue to grow and develop in the Panthers system alongside his good mates.<\/p>\n

"I look forward to working with him over the next three years and I know he'll contribute strongly to our club, on and off the field, in that time."<\/p>\n
