Former Brisbane<\/a> captain Tom Rockliff<\/a> has slammed a media "beat up" while conceding at least one player's relationship ended after a post-season trip to America.<\/p>\n

It was revealed last week several Lions players were implicated in an awkward mistake when WhatsApp messages and photos were uploaded to iCloud<\/a> during last year's holiday, and supposedly seen by one partner then shared with others back in Australia.<\/p>\n

The story emerged hours before Brisbane lost to Collingwood to slump to an 0-3 start to the AFL<\/a> season, after losing last year's grand final to the Magpies by just four points.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Lions football boss Danny Daly fronted journalists<\/a> to deny the saga has had any lingering impact on the playing group.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAnd Rockliff agrees.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt seems to be a big beat up," Rockliff told Nine's Today <\/em>on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThe trip actually was in LA and Nashville, so they didn't even go to Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffWhat happens when you start the season 0-3 when you're expected to be 3-0, they look for stories and journos are scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one to try cause something that may not be there.<\/p>\n

"Clearly things didn't go to plan (overseas)… but to \ufeffsuggest that's the reason they're 0-3 is a complete beat up."<\/p>\n

Reports claimed members of the playing group held a crisis meeting over the weekend after suffering a third straight loss.<\/p>\n

Daly denied that happened after contacting co-captains Lachie Neale and Harris Andrews to clarify the story.<\/p>\n

While Rockliff concedes the America saga may have caused tension at the time, he believes it would have been put to bed months ago.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThere's no doubting there may have been some friction at the time, and I'm led to believe it may have cost one player a relationship, but relationships aren't easy at the best of times," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffTo suggest this is the reason they're 0-3 is complete rubbish. If they were 3-0 we wouldn't even be sitting here talking about this, there would be no story.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffFrom all reports it was a pretty standard trip away for boys at the end of a season – they went away, played golf together, had a few beers, had a good time.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI'm not exactly sure what was in the conversation or what led to that… clearly there may have been some discontent at the time about what transpired, the players might have felt let down with each other.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThey would have had the conversations and moved on from it in October or November.<\/p>\n

"I think they will galvanise around this."\ufeff<\/p>\n
