Star English halfback Lewis Dodd is set to snub interest from at least four NRL<\/a> clubs to remain with his Super League<\/a> club St Helens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several Aussie clubs are desperate to snare 22-year-old Dodd, rated the best young playmaker in the Super League.<\/p>\n

Dodd has left the door ajar for a move Down Under but sources close to the classy No.7 say he is likely to sign a long-term deal to remain with St Helens.<\/p>\n

Dodd wrote himself into Saints folklore in the 2023 World Club Challenge, kicking the match-winning field goal in golden point against Penrith.<\/p>\n

He also played in the Saints' 2021 Super League grand final victory over Catalans Dragons while still a teenager.<\/p>\n

There is a shortage of halfbacks who can take the game by the throat in the NRL, thus the interest in Dodd, and his decision is a major blow to the clubs after his signature.<\/p>\n

Wonderboy Lachlan Galvin could easily have ended up a Sea Eagle and not a Tiger in 2024.<\/p>\n

Galvin is managed by Isaac Moses – who also manages Manly coach Anthony Seibold – and the Sea Eagles were well aware of the youngster's freakish potential.<\/p>\n

With Daly Cherry-Evans nearing the end of his illustrious career, Galvin would have been a great acquisition at Brookvale.<\/p>\n

But talks never really got to first base – thanks to the persistence of former Tigers coach Tim Sheens and recruitment manager Warren McDonnell.<\/p>\n

The pair convinced Galvin his path to first grade would be a lot quicker at the Tigers – and even though both have since left the club, their prediction proved spot on.<\/p>\n

Kayal Iro bagged his first NRL try in the Sharks' win over Canberra on Sunday – and the timing couldn't have been better.<\/p>\n

The son of former Kiwi great Kevin Iro is off contract at the end of the season and put himself in the shop window for rival clubs with a classy display against the strong Raiders backline.<\/p>\n

Iro's landmark try – even though replays showed he dropped the ball before grounding it – broke an 18-all deadlock and put the Sharks on course for a fine comeback win after trailing 18-0.<\/p>\n

The young centre also ran for nearly 150 metres, and with several clubs keen on his services for next season, he has a big decision to make in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Wests Tigers are embroiled in a battle with the NSW Waratahs and several rival NRL clubs for the best teenage centre coming through the ranks.<\/p>\n

Heamasi Makasini has taken the Harold Matthews Cup competition by storm this season for Wests Magpies, ripping through rival teams with his strength and speed.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old, who goes to famous rugby union school Newington College, has bagged 10 tries and 27 goals in just eight games.<\/p>\n

A powerhouse ball-runner, the youngster of Tongan descent looks like a man playing against boys and has attracted the attention of talent scouts throughout both rugby codes.<\/p>\n
