Swans<\/a> coach John Longmire<\/a> says the club is "working through" a divide in the squad allegedly caused by a player acting inappropriately towards a teammate's former partner.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe Sydney club removed 24-year-old Sam Wicks from all duties late last week ahead of a trip to Melbourne.<\/p>\n

It was reported on SEN radio Wicks had been left at home due to friction with a number of other players.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt related to an issue between Wicks and a teammate," veteran journalist Caroline Wilson told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Monday.<\/p>\n

"Wicks has denied \ufeffany sort of inappropriate behaviour with a former partner of a teammate, and the club now believes him.<\/p>\n

\"<\/p>\n

"But the allegation became so heated, and so potentially divisive during the week that by the time club bosses think they got to the bottom of it, too much damage had been done.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffDramatically it was decided Wicks would not take part in the football program for a few days.<\/p>\n

"I understand there will be a coming together of Wicks and his senior teammate in the coming day\ufeff or two.<\/p>\n

"Don't worry – tempers were flaring, and it wasn't just the two players\ufeff who it was causing friction between. A lot of the playing group were very upset by this."<\/p>\n

Swans hierarchy reportedly investigated the matter and found Wicks to be innocent of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n

Wilson believes he will return to full duties with the team on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Fox Footy on Monday night, coach Longmire played down the saga.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffMost of the things you deal with in football, over my time… has been non-football," Longmire said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThat's just one of those things that you need to make sure you work through. We believe we are working through that well.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffWe are mature enough to be able to work through that and get our focus on the footy."<\/p>\n
