W\ufeffarriors<\/a> five-eighth Luke Metcalf<\/a> has suffered another injury blow after he was assisted off the field early against the Knights<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The half appeared to suffer a leg problem in an innocuous tackle from Tyson Frizell and stayed down on the ground for a significant period of time.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"It's an impact injury, I think it's Tyson's shoulder, there's no twisting," NRL Immortal Andrew Johns said on Nine's coverage.<\/p>\n

Metcalf then had to be assisted off the field with Chanel Harris-Tavita replacing him.<\/p>\n

The speedy half was later pictured in a cart at the ground with reports of a suspected fracture in his leg.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe latest injury setback for Metcalf continues his troubled history having suffered a torn hamstring in round 26 last year that ruled him out for finals.<\/p>\n

It wasn't the first time he's had hamstring troubles while he also injured his ACL coming through the lower grades.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt's unfortunate for Luke, the positive is Chanel Harris-Tavita plays in that six jersey," Billy Slater said at half-time.<\/p>\n

"That's his most comfortable position, that's a clean swap although Luke brings a lot more speed, he's a really dynamic runner of the football so it takes a bit of that threat away but in terms of Chanel, he's been waiting for this opportunity and now he gets it."<\/p>\n

\ufeffDespite the big blow, the Warriors rallied to be leading 12-0 after 18 minutes with tries to Jackson Ford and Harris-Tavita.<\/p>\n

Frizell put Newcastle<\/a> back in the contest with five minutes to go in the first half as the Warriors led 12-6 at the break.<\/p>\n

The Warriors started strong in the second half when Marcelo Montoya crossed in the 43rd minute. \ufeff<\/p>\n

No more points would be scored until the 71st minute when Shaun Johnson kicked a penalty goal.<\/p>\n

The Knights made it interesting two minutes later when Bradman Best scored but it was too little too late with the Warriors winning \ufeff20-12.<\/p>\n

Post-match, Warriors fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck<\/a> \ufeffdescribed the loss of Metcalf as "massive" for the side. <\/p>\n

"(Metcalf) is a big part of our team and our plans going forward," he told Nine's coverage. <\/p>\n
