Against some of the top competition in the nation, Roosevelt High School (Eastvale, Calif.) junior Brayden Burries proved why he’s a five-star recruit against some of the other top players in the class of 2025.<\/p>\n

Burries led the Vale, Roosevelt’s team, to a championship in The Throne, a tournament between 16 teams. Eleven of the teams are ranked in the Super 25 national rankings<\/a> and three have been ranked previously this season, making it a who’s-who of boys basketball.<\/p>\n

The who’s-who is Burries, who recorded 34 points and 10 rebounds in the semifinals and then hit the game-winning and-one floater over the No. 3 team in the country, Columbus, in the waning seconds of the championship game:<\/p>\n

He also hit a contested layup in the final minutes of semifinals, vitally important to clinching this game.<\/p>\n

In doing so, he and Roosevelt showed they could match up with an elite unit at Columbus led by the Boozer twins, Cameron and Cayden. Ranked the No. 2 and No. 14, respectively, players in 247Sports’ 2025 composite rankings class of 2025, Burries’ success indicates his ranking at No. 12 may be too low despite the five-star mark.<\/p>\n

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Burries won MVP with averages of 27 points and eight rebounds in the tournament. In addition to his elite finals and semifinals outings, he recorded a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double in the quarterfinals. He drove and finished with poise and agility, as shown above and in this high-arching finish:<\/p>\n

Roosevelt went 31-4 during its season, which put them at No. 19 in the Super 25 entering the week.\u00a0 After losing to No. 5 Harvard-Westlake twice in the playoffs, this tournament ties a bow on an extremely impressive season, one in which the Mustangs were undoubtedly among the best in the nation.<\/p>\n
