T\ufeffim Tszyu<\/a> has been dealt the first loss of his professional career in an "utterly disastrous" bloodbath against Sebastian Fundora – and the boxing world has reacted in brutal fashion as the referee and ringside doctors were lashed post-fight. <\/p>\n

The previously-undefeated Australian superstar copped a stray elbow from his 197cm opponent early in the fight, but battled through the remaining 10 rounds.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old, a split decision from the judges went against him<\/a> and Fundora ultimately emerged as the new WBO and WBC super welterweight champ.<\/p>\n

Speaking immediately after the decision, Tszyu was gracious in defeat and admitted his vision was completely hindered following the nasty gash above his forehead.<\/p>\n

"I couldn't see but all credit belongs to the man who won tonight," he said.<\/p>\n

"These things happen, the momentum was rolling and I was swinging hard … and then boom, you are blinded completely. This is boxing, this is part of the sport.<\/p>\n

"We will bounce back. I showed up no matter what, I always bring the fight. I was given one week, no excuses – I will fight whoever, whenever.<\/p>\n

"Errol Spence is here, even Terence Crawford. You want a scrap, you know who to call."\ufeff\ufeff<\/p>\n

The reaction from the boxing community regarding Tszyu being allowed to continue was mixed at best, with many believing the fight should have been called off.<\/p>\n

During the post-fight coverage on Main Event, former multi-time world champion Andre Ward explained the significance of the cut sustained by the Sydneysider.<\/p>\n

"I don't want to say it could have been a completely different fight, but it definitely would have been an easier night for Tim Tszyu," he said.<\/p>\n

"When you're bleeding like that, that does start to weaken you and for whatever reason, his corner was not able to stop the bleeding and it continued to bleed profusely.<\/p>\n

"I give a lot of credit to Tim Tszyu for hanging in there. Initially, I thought it looked worse than what it was but as we saw the fight unfold, I thought, 'This really is a bad cut', and Tim Tszyu did the best he could with what he had."\ufeff<\/p>\n

There was also plenty of criticism of Tszyu's corner for the way they handled the situation and turn of events mid-fight.<\/p>\n

High-profile fight promoter Lou Dibella claimed Tszyu's team "let him down" during a hellacious battle inside the famous T-Mobile Arena.<\/p>\n

Ward also criticised the tactics from team Tszyu, saying he needed to exploit some of Fundora's weakness and minimise the reach advantage.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"He would lunge in with big shots, and we're saying, 'Hit his body, he's body's right there', because Sebastian Fundora has a long torso," Ward said.<\/p>\n

"And for whatever reason, Tim Tszyu wasn't interested in throwing a lot of body shots. I think that would have changed the complexity of the fight."<\/p>\n

After the fight, Fundora was met inside the ring by Errol Spence Jr. as the star super welterweights talk up a potential showdown later this year.<\/p>\n

As for Tszyu, it will be back to the drawing board as his 24\ufeff-fight undefeated streak comes to an end in Sin City.<\/p>\n

Earlier on the card, Melbourne's Michael Zerafa<\/a> was knocked out in the second round of his WBA middleweight world title showdown with Erislandy Lara.<\/p>\n
