If he's not scoring tries, he's setting them up with his blinding pace.

So, who is the sharpest winger in the country and who has he joined on the podium of all-time Aussie flyers?

Watch all the action from the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season, with every match ad-free, live and and on demand on Stan Sport

WAGGA TO THE WORLD OF SEVENS

A Wagga junior, The Brumbies found a spot for Toole in their Pathways program where he went on to join the Gungahlin Eagles in the John Dent Cup.

His highlights for the Eagles are comically impressive. In one clip, Toole gives up a 15-metre headstart whilst facing the opposite direction, he then turns and burns down the opposing fullback inside 25 metres. It's freakish.

All those plays began adding up and Aussie Sevens coach John Manenti, who has a seriously good eye for talent, brought the flyer to the national program.

His impact was immediate and the world took notice. That's rare company."

High praise from one of the game's best.

Sky Sport NZ and long-time WR play-by-play caller Rikki Swannell was equally impressed.

"Electric with beautiful balance, a classic Sevens finisher," she said.

"He'd often score without a finger being laid on him. If there's one player I'd love to see back for the Olympics, it's him. A return to the SFS, an 18-year-old prodigy named Max Jorgensen on debut for the Tahs, the start of a World Cup year.

It all went to plan for NSW initially, a season-high 25,000 turned up to see Jorgensen score with his first touch.

However, as the game went on, the Brumbies began asserting dominance AND the opposing debutant started to get more and more involved.

Toole scored one of his own and very nearly created one of the best tries of the year, denied by a millimetre of sideline paint.

'Jorgo' was always going to be world-class, but the Brumbies winger had also announced himself.

Stan Sport commentator Andrew Swain covered a bunch of Toole games in year one. He says it's as simple as 'calling the Corey hotline' when the Brumbies want a five-pointer.

"Your hammies and Achilles tighten up just watching him run that fast. His value is pure, unbridled, lightning speed. Ask any coach, that's priceless," Swain remarked.

Over in New Zealand, broadcasters at Sky were taking notice as well. Play-by-play caller Jeff McTainsh is another who loves calling the #11 home.

"I haven't seen too many as quick off the mark as Corey," said McTanish.

"Not only does he have top speed out of the gate, his ability to read the situation and find support is exceptional.

"Some of the tries he's scored this year have been world-class.

"As far as Test rugby goes, Toole would be a great fit. He has X-factor and all it takes sometimes is one moment from a player to change a game."

SECOND SEASON BLUES?

So far, non-existent. It's not just the speed any more, it's the skills too.

His combination with fullback Tom Wright last week was beautiful to watch. Passing smartly, offloading sharply in contact. The arsenal is expanding.

Former Wallabies Stephen Hoiles and Morgan Turinui are both of the opinion that you just find a place for him at the top level and work it out from there.

Like Rikki Swannell, both would like to see him represent Australia at the Olympic games too.

THE FASTEST AUSSIE EVER?

In the history of Super Rugby, there's been stupid quick players across the tournament. They reckon Joe Roff was fast, real fast. Rugby fast, but Toole is quicker," he explained.

"The thing about 'Roffy' was he moved 103kg at insane pace. Lachie Turner takes third," he said.

"However, over 10 metres, I reckon Corey Toole is the quickest we have seen. He makes other people look like they're in slow motion, which is the opposite to Matt Dunning, who looked like he got slower the faster he ran."

The Toole's have it. If you ain't first, you're last.

The Brumbies No.11 is the fastest Aussie we've ever seen and he'll have the engine purring again at Suncorp on Saturday night in a battle of the two best sides in the country.

See you all with the coverage from 7.00pm AEDT on Stan Sport and Nine Gem.

There's a quote In the opening credits of Will Ferrell's Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. "America is all about speed.
