Jannik Sinner's<\/a> physio found himself in the firing line at the Miami Open<\/a>, copping a stray ball to the groin at close range.<\/p>\n

In the round of 16 match against Australia's Christopher O'Connell, a ball caught the frame of Sinner's racquet and found its way through the gap between the sponsorship hoarding and bench where the tennis star's team sat.<\/p>\n

The physio was left wincing in pain after the ball hit his groin while Sinner and his team members chuckled at the therapist's plight.<\/p>\n

Sinner played on, winning the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to set up a quarter-final appearance with Tomas Machac.<\/p>\n

"I know him now really well," said Sinner of his physio.<\/p>\n

"I hurt him, I still have to apologise. The serve was in and with the frame, the ball went straight to him in a really important point of our human being.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I feel sorry for him but hopefully it's going to be all good."<\/p>\n

The match featured another funny moment when one spectator thought he'd nabbed himself a sweet souvenir when he caught a stray ball.<\/p>\n

That was until the chair umpire asked him to give it back.<\/p>\n

"Sir, can we have our ball back please," the umpire said over the speaker system.<\/p>\n

"I'll give you another one, thanks."<\/p>\n

The spectator threw it back while some in the crowd booed.<\/p>\n

While there were some amusing scenes, the contest was briefly stopped after a spectator fainted.<\/p>\n

Sinner took drinks, towels, and bags of ice from his personal supply and passed them to spectators in the grandstand to help the ailing individual.<\/p>\n

The Miami Open has been marred by intense heat<\/a>, causing not only spectators but competitors to suffer.<\/p>\n
