Collingwood<\/a> coach Craig McRae<\/a> has apologised after being called out by veteran journalist Caroline Wilson for a post-game media performance.<\/p>\n

\ufeffWilson was unimpressed that McRae failed to credit St Kilda for a 15-point win over the Magpies<\/a> on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The loss relegated the reigning AFL<\/a> premiers to an 0-3 start to their title defence, and McRae was quizzed by journalists on the issues with his team.<\/p>\n

But Wilson accused him of having a "me, me, me mentality" for failing to give the Saints credit for the result.<\/p>\n

"I'm not sure I can remember the last time I saw a losing coach speak for more than 12 minutes and not pay one word of credit to the opposition," Wilson told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"Collingwood<\/p>\n

"In fact, if there hadn't been questions about the Jack Higgins goal and the relative lead-up of the two teams going into the game, you would have been forgiven for thinking Collingwood was playing itself. Perhaps there's something in that.<\/p>\n

"For the record St Kilda won the game, Spud's Game, and perhaps applied some pressure that led to those Collingwood mistakes.<\/p>\n

"There's self-reflection and there's sportsmanship."<\/p>\n

Spud's Game is played in honour of St Kilda legend Danny Frawley and puts a focus on mental health.<\/p>\n

McRae is known as one of the most polite and humble coaches in the game, and on Tuesday was given the chance to respond to Wilson's allegations.<\/p>\n

Rather than fire back, the coach took it on the chin and accepted he made a mistake.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffCan I do that now then? Caroline, I want to apologise," he told media.<\/p>\n

"Because I want to be humble\ufeff and gracious, and if I didn't give St Kilda enough credit I should have.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThat's a good observation."<\/p>\n

McRae revealed he is considering resting some of the older Collingwood players for Thursday's grand final rematch against Brisbane.<\/p>\n
