Forgotten Wallabies star Tom Wright gave Joe Schmidt a timely reminder of his considerable ability with a five star performance against Moana Pasifika \ufeffin round five.<\/p>\n

Admittedly coming in a dominant 60-21 win, the Brumbies fullback was everywhere at GIO Stadium, scoring two tries and having a hand in several others.<\/p>\n

Wright has played 25 Tests for Australia \ufeffand was a regular under previous coach Dave Rennie.<\/p>\n

He started at No.15 against Argentina last July before Eddie Jones went cold on him and the now 26-year-old has not been \ufeffsighted since.<\/p>\n

Wright's Rugby World Cup omission was completely overshadowed by the high profile axings of Michael Hooper and Quade Cooper.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"He had a couple of big mistakes in two Test matches last year that cost him dearly," former Wallabies backrower Stephen Hoiles said on Stan Sport's Between Two Posts<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"We've got so much going on during the World Cup last year and there was a Barbarians squad. I remember seeing a photo of the Barbarians and just looking going 'hang on.'<\/p>\n

"Why is Tom Wright not in the Wallabies – like six weeks after it was named? He's only ever been good for every team he's played in.<\/p>\n

"He had two moments in the Test series leading up to the World Cup selection. Like that's a huge, quality player we left out of that World Cup squad."<\/p>\n

Randwick coach Hoiles had been hugely impressed with Wright's mental fortitude to keep competing for a Test recall.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"That can go one of two ways," Hoiles said.<\/p>\n

"Players can spit the dummy and not work hard in the offseason.<\/p>\n

\"Tom<\/p>\n

"He's a Sydney boy, he was back up and down the highway (to Canberra), doing speed training all summer, working his backside off.<\/p>\n

"And, yeah, it looks as though (Brumbies coach Stephen) Larkham's given them a little bit more of a licence to to counter from deep…<\/p>\n

"The freedom they're playing with – he's just making (winger) Corey Toole look better. He's helping (five-eighth Noah) Lolesio.<\/p>\n

\"Australia<\/p>\n

"That's a sign of a really good player when the players inside and outside you are thriving. I thought he was excellent the other night and there were a couple that got pulled back that could have been tries for him. He's just constantly threatening.<\/p>\n

"He's gonna have a good year for us."<\/p>\n

Andrew Kellaway and Ben Donaldson were used at fullback by Jones \ufeffat the World Cup.<\/p>\n
