AFL<\/a> greats Matthew Lloyd<\/a> and Kane Cornes<\/a> have urged Collingwood<\/a> to consider moving superstar Nick Daicos<\/a> out of the midfield.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old is considered the brightest young talent in the game, but had a night to forget\ufeff as his Magpies slumped to a third straight loss on Thursday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The reigning premiers have fallen to the Giants, Swans, and Saints to begin their title defence.<\/p>\n

The microscope has now been turned on Daicos, who enjoyed arguably the best first 49 games in VFL\/AFL history but then struggled in his 50th.<\/p>\n

Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> panel on Monday highlighted several incidents where Daicos failed to match the physicality of St Kilda.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHis strength is his run," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

"The criticism of him over the weekend was \ufeffhe wasn't strong enough over the ball. You can't be everything to everyone.<\/p>\n

"He's a superstar, one of the best first 50 games we've seen. \ufeffBut he was shown up around the contest by the St Kilda players.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI wonder if he could rejuvenate this Pies team by going back, getting him out of the midfield where he can… grab the ball, tuck it under his arm, get out of traffic a bit more rather than being around congestion of centre bounce.<\/p>\n

"He might be the best halfback in the comp."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Cornes agreed the Magpies should consider making Daicos more of an outside player rather than leave him on-ball given his current struggles.<\/p>\n

But he wants Daicos to play forward of centre, not back.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI agree with what you're saying there, and that vision is devastating," Cornes said.<\/p>\n

\"Jack<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI would love to see him forward as well. I know you can't put him everywhere but I would love to see him in more a Dustin Martin role where he's getting the ball in the front half.<\/p>\n

"Their forward line is struggling, can you put him forward of the ball\ufeff and maximise (scoring) damage for touch?"<\/p>\n

Richmond champion champion Martin\ufeff and Geelong's Patrick Dangerfield are just two examples of gun midfielders who can be equally dangerous when playing forward.<\/p>\n

But the gradual move out of the midfield generally comes later in a player's career, not in his third season.<\/p>\n
