Essendon Bombers great Matthew Lloyd<\/a> has identified the one "worry" facing superstar Harley Reid<\/a> after an impressive start to his career.<\/p>\n

The No.1 pick made his AFL debut against Port Adelaide in round one and finished with 16 disposals.<\/p>\n

He then lit up Perth in round two with some touches of class\ufeff, recording 17 touches and providing a shining light for the Eagles<\/a> fans after a 65-point loss.<\/p>\n

Lloyd believes it's time for West Coast's senior players to step up and support the 18-year-old after his promising start. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHe's doing don't argues like a 200-game player, it's phenomenal every touch he gets," he said on Nine's Footy Classified.<\/p>\n

"He doesn't even need to get more than 10 or 12 (touches) at the moment, you can see how good he's going to be.<\/p>\n

"The only worry for him is the lack of support, if I'm Adam Simpson I'm going to Elliott Yeo (and asking for more), 'we need a ferocious Tim Kelly, we need gut-running from you guys, we need to have this boy feel like he's surrounded by veterans who are going to support him'."<\/p>\n

Reid came into the 2024 season as one of the most-watched No.1 picks in recent memory after rumours persisted prior to the draft about whether he would head interstate from Victoria.<\/p>\n

Before he was picked, Reid cleared up the speculation around his future late last year\ufeff telling SEN: "To all the West Coast people listening … I don't know how much clearer I can be, I'm happy to go to the Eagles."<\/p>\n

After the Eagles picked him, the media coverage was strong on Reid, with an ABC report listing stating that The West Australian had featured him on the back page 25 times before round one.<\/p>\n

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes praised the maturity of the 18-year-old after starting his West Coast career in spectacular fashion. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"You've got to admire the way he's gone about it, there's been a lot of talk about the pressure, the media coverage of it, the physical attacks the other teams have come with him and he looks really composed and he's up to it," he said.<\/p>\n
