W\ufeffestern Australia<\/a> collected their third-straight Sheffield Shield<\/a> title on Sunday – and the performance of Corey Rocchiccioli was a major reason for their victory.<\/p>\n

The side outclassed Tasmania in the domestic red-ball final, winning by 377 runs at the WACA to add another piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rocchiccioli took seven wickets for the match, despite the off-spinner battling a nasty bout of gastro that threatened to rule him out of the final.<\/p>\n

"It was pretty hard at times," he told ESPN Cricinfo.<\/p>\n

"At one stage I went through a litre of lemonade to get some sugar back into me. I managed to get through it. Playing in a Shield final, you've got no excuses. <\/p>\n

"You roll up and do your job. I found a way and that's what makes me happy."\ufeff<\/p>\n

His display with the ball was backed up by the WA batting group, with opener Sam Whiteman (104) and young gun Cooper Connolly (90) setting the tone in the first innings, before Hilton Cartwright (94) continued their dominance in the second dig. <\/p>\n

Rocchiccioli's seven-wicket haul capped off an incredible season in the Shield competition, taking 46 wickets at 27.60 and placing himself firmly in the sight of national selectors as they cast an eye towards a future without Nathan Lyon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old could put himself in the mix with Victoria's Todd Murphy<\/a> for a long-term spot in the Test lineup and Rocchiccioli is full of confidence after his recent efforts, despite being down the pecking order with George Bailey and company.<\/p>\n

"Gaz [Lyon] has the spot, Murph is probably ahead of me at the moment," he said.<\/p>\n

"My job is to take wickets for Western Australia. It's as simple as knock down the door and take the opportunity if it ever comes. The expectations I've probably put on myself are higher than anyone's ever going to put on me. <\/p>\n

"Obviously I want to play for Australia, but right now it doesn't bother me too much."\ufeff<\/p>\n
