Titans<\/a> captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui<\/a> will miss the rest of the NRL<\/a> season after suffering a serious knee injury against the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old limped off the field in the second half of Saturday's loss at Belmore Oval, with scans confirming an ACL rupture for the superstar front-rower.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The injury will also rule Fa'asuamaleaui out of the State of Origin<\/a> series for Queensland<\/a> in a major blow to Billy Slater's hopes of a third-straight victory as coach.<\/p>\n

The incident came late in Gold Coast's 32-0 loss at the hands of Canterbury, with their captain in agony on the turf after a tackle from Max king.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The contact from King was not penalised or placed on report, with the NRL judiciary also finding no issue with the awkward tackle. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"It looks like King got the bumper bars and slid down into the legs there … he just gets twisted awkwardly by (Jacob) Preston over the top," Michael Ennis said on Fox League.<\/p>\n

"They can ill-afford to lose this bloke. Tino is everything to the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n

"This is just devastating blow for the Gold Coast, he is such a good player."<\/p>\n

Fa'asuamaleaui has been the heart and soul of the Titans since joining the club in 2021, with his strong carries and bone-rattling defence setting the tone on the field.<\/p>\n

Off the field, the \ufeffAustralian and Samoan international has become a leader despite still being in the early stages of his NRL career with less than 100 appearances.<\/p>\n

Fa'asuamaleaui signed a bumper contract extension last year, which will see him remain at the Titans until the end of 2033.<\/p>\n

His absence will leave a major hole in the Gold Coast forward pack, with the likes of Moeaki Fotuaika and \ufeffKeenan Palasia now expected to stand up and perform.<\/p>\n
