U\ufeffFC<\/a> fighter Igor Severino has been disqualified from his bout against Andre Lima over an ugly biting incident on Sunday morning (AEDT).<\/p>\n

During the second round of the flyweight bout in Las Vegas, the fight was stopped \ufeffafter Lima complained of a bite from his opponent while they were up against the cage.<\/p>\n

The evidence was damning \u2013 Lima showed the referee a clear bite mark on his arm. A doctor confirmed to the official what had occurred.<\/p>\n

The contest was waved off by Chris Tognoni, which allowed Lima to hold onto his undefeated record. Severino now faces potential further sanction from the UFC.<\/p>\n

According to senior reporter Kevin Iole via a text message from president Dana White<\/a>, the company are looking to cut Severino for his actions.<\/p>\n

"Those were two up-and-coming undefeated fighters," White said.<\/p>\n

"If you get frustrated and want out of the fight, there are plenty of ways to do it, but the worst thing you can do is bite your opponent.<\/p>\n

"Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life. Not to mention, he's going to have real problems with the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission)."<\/p>\n

A number of fellow fighters condemned the misconduct from Severino on social media.<\/p>\n
