I\ufeffn his 150th game, Geelong<\/a> premiership defender Tom Stewart has put on an absolute clinic to guide his Cats to a gutsy 20-point victory away from home against Adelaide.<\/p>\n

Amassing a mammoth 10 intercept marks, Stewart was the leader through the backline, collecting 28 touches, the most for any Cat on Adelaide Oval on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Stewart's journey to the top was an unorthodox one, being scouted as a mature age recruit by one of the Cats' greatest defenders of all time, Matthew Scarlett<\/a> back in 2017.<\/p>\n

Since then, Stewart has collected five All-Australian blazers, two Carji Greeves best and fairests and one premiership.<\/p>\n

His performance against the Crows wasn't an anomaly however, with the 31-year-old a constant pillar of strength across his 150 games.<\/p>\n

Alongside him, Tom Hawkins booted four majors, as he continues to push ahead with the most goals socred in the league since 2021.<\/p>\n

Gryan Miers kicked three goals, while\ufeff Max Holmes picked up 24 disposals.<\/p>\n

An emotional Stewart spoke post-match\ufeff, expressing his gratitude towards the Cats for giving him a chance back in 2017.<\/p>\n

"I'm so thankful to the Geelong footy club to be a part of it," Stewart said on Seven.<\/p>\n

\"Tom<\/p>\n

"I am getting a bit emotional now. It's something I really cherish, to get to celebrate with my best mates, my wife and kids, my mum and sister.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I'm really going to enjoy this one because it means so much to me."<\/p>\n

The premiership defender reflected on his journey to Kardinia Park,\ufeff with the Cats taking a chance to recruit the backman who had only played at local level for South Barwon and in the Cats' VFL side.<\/p>\n

"I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones. I sort of fell into Geelong's lap and never had to leave home," he said.<\/p>\n

"The stars aligned for me to take that spot that Boris (Corey Enright) left and make it my own.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

The Cats battled against two late outs, including Mitch Duncan who rushed home to be with his wife who is expecting their fourth child.<\/p>\n

Tom Atkins was also a late out due to injury.<\/p>\n

It heaped pressure on the visitors, who were able to absorb the pressure the young Crows applied all night.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Matt Crouch starred with 38 disposals for the Crows, with Darcy Fogarty booting two goals.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Next week, Tom Hawkins will bring up game 350 against Hawthorn on Easter Monday.<\/p>\n

However the three-time premiership Cat\ufeff was quick to remove the spotlight from himself.<\/p>\n

"Tonight is not about me, it's about Tom Stewart," Hawkins said on 7.<\/p>\n

"I love playing Easter Monday. We make a big deal about milestone because they're a big deal. It's one of the great parts of a team sport that you can celebrate with teammates and fans and people who helped you on the journey."<\/p>\n

All eyes will now turn to Cats skipper Patrick Dangerfield, who was subbed off late in the final term, seen clutching at his hamstring on the bench.\ufeff<\/p>\n
