A\ufeffFL chief executive officer Andrew Dillon has remained coy on whether St Kilda forward Jack Higgins' controversial boundary line goal<\/a> was in fact out of bounds against Collingwood on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The Saints went on to defeat Collingwood by 15 points at the MCG<\/a>, serving the reigning premiers an 0-3 start for the first time since 1999.<\/p>\n

\ufeffBut all eyes were on Higgins' fourth major of the night, booted from the boundary line in the final term to seal the Saints' win.<\/p>\n

The ball looked to be kicked while Higgins was slightly out of bounds, with commentators questioning the boundary umpire not blowing the whistle.<\/p>\n

The ball continued to travel and drop in for a goal at a crucial moment of the match. <\/p>\n

\ufeffDillon would not concede the non-call was a mistake made by the boundary umpire.<\/p>\n

"Our game is played on a big oval, we've got elite umpires at all levels, sometimes mistakes are made \u2013 I'm not saying that was necessarily a mistake. It's a tough game to umpire, and our umpires do an incredible job," he said on Friday.<\/p>\n

The controversial non-call comes on the eve of the AFL trialing their new \ufeffball chip technology<\/a> in the VFL<\/a> and VFLW.<\/p>\n

Sherrins with a chip planted in them will eventually be used by the league<\/a>, broadcasters and clubs to measure an array of stats and data.<\/p>\n

The hope is these numbers will be available in real time and Dillon says that score reviews will likely be the first area of ball tracking to be brought to life.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I don't know about the detail of the (trial), the first instance is score review, and then it's the stats that go from that, but depending on how sophisticated we can get the technology, there is a potential for that," Dillon said.<\/p>\n
