The plot – and the stench – has thickened in Canberra \ufeffafter Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham joined Raiders boss Ricky Stuart in admitting that GIO Stadium is not passing the smell test.<\/a><\/p>\n

Stuart let rip when quizzed about the stadium's "pungent aroma" after the Raiders beat the Tigers 32-12 on Saturday.<\/a><\/p>\n

"I feel sorry for those people there with the stench, it's shit. I know people laugh about it, but we are the capital of Australia," Stuart said.<\/p>\n

\"'Stench'<\/p>\n

Larkham, who started playing for the Brumbies in 1996, said the main issue was with the visiting changing rooms, which "have a bit of a stench about them".<\/p>\n

"So we've moved. I think it was about 2018, we moved from the No.1 change room to the second change room, which is a lot bigger and the smell in there is not as bad," Larkham explained.<\/p>\n

"But I know there's there's some issues in the other change room. You kind of get used to it after a while of of being in there.<\/p>\n

"I'm aware there's an issue with the drains. I mean, the the opposition team go into those change rooms. So it's not something we're particularly worried about.<\/p>\n

"I don't think we we had any complaints out of our first home game there from the opposition (the Force in round three) but, obviously, something's happened over the last week to set it off."<\/p>\n

The Brumbies host Moana Pasifika on Friday night (\ufeff7.35pm kickoff AEDT).<\/p>\n

The stinky situation was further examined by former Brumbies stars Justin Harrison and Stephen Hoiles on Stan Sport's The Night Before Gameday<\/em>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I sat near Bill Young for a long time," Harrison said.<\/p>\n

"I just thought it was Youngy. There's actually a problem, right? He's (Larkham) a bit more diplomatic than Ricky Stuart."<\/p>\n

Randwick coach Hoiles recalled "some pong" from his own playing days.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"But it's obviously deteriorated, and I wouldn't rule out Stephen Larkham from having something to do with it," Hoiles said.<\/p>\n

"There's a smile on his face that tells me he knows a little bit more than he's letting on."<\/p>\n
