N\ufefforth Melbourne captain Jy Simpkin says he harbours no hard feelings towards St Kilda defender Jimmy Webster, after a brutal hit that left the Roo severely concussed on the eve of the 2024 season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Webster jumped off the ground and shouldered Simpkin<\/a> after he kicked the ball on the boundary line at RSEA Park during a practice match in March.<\/p>\n

Simpkin lay motionless on the ground as he was tended to by club medical staff.<\/p>\n

The St Kilda veteran was slapped with a seven week suspension for the bump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was Simpkin's third concussion in under a year, with the club quick to rule him out of their round one match against GWS, which they went on to lose by 39 points.<\/p>\n

However, the 26-year-old says he's ready to move on from the scary incident and has made his peace with Webster.\ufeff<\/p>\n

It comes after the co-captain was selected to join the Roos in their clash against Fremantle at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"No hard feelings, these things unfortunately happen in football\ufeff," he said at Arden Street on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"Unfortunately this time it just happened to happen to me."<\/p>\n

Simpkin confirmed that a remorseful Webster reached out the day after the scary incident.<\/p>\n

"The day after it all happened, he reached out, showed a lot of remorse," he said.<\/p>\n

"Had a phone call with him for 10, 15 minutes, had a good chat.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

As for his own health, the midfielder says he is finally feeling like himself again.<\/p>\n

"I'm feeling really good. I've been in the best hands for the last few weeks. Pumped, ready to go and really excited to be back out there with the boys," Simpkin said.\ufeff<\/p>\n

There are still fears for Simpkin's long term health after three concussions in nine months, but he says he is focusing on how he is feeling now.<\/p>\n

"It doesn't really cross my mind. I'm just going to go out and play the same way I do," he said.<\/p>\n
