Dragons<\/a> captain Ben Hunt<\/a> has revealed the brutal conversations had between teammates after the side's heavy 38-0 loss to the Dolphins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Red V was the surprise packet of round one when they defeated the Titans 28-4 on the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n

However, round two was a wake-up call for \ufeffthe side as Shane Flanagan<\/a> suffered his first official loss as coach of the Dragons.<\/p>\n

Hunt revealed there were players given a stern talking to during the side's "honest review". \ufeff<\/p>\n

"There was a lot of guys I guess you could say, got called out and got a few truths they didn't want to hear and things like that," he said.<\/p>\n

"That's what you need in a good footy side, you need some guys that are open and willing to call teammates out and can be honest with each other and sort things out.<\/p>\n

"We've got a lot of things we need to clean up both sides of the ball. We made way too many errors … defensively we were too lose in the ruck and let them down the field too much."<\/p>\n

Despite initially using the "called out" comment, Hunt clarified his phrase when saying it was staff and players delivering the messages. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I probably \ufeffwouldn't say calling each other out but helping your teammates is probably a better way of putting it," he said.<\/p>\n

For Flanagan it was a reminder of the task at hand after taking over a side that hasn't played finals since 2018.<\/p>\n

After the round one win, the coach declared he was happy people tipped the Dragons to come last, stating "\ufeffit won't happen".<\/p>\n

However, the 58-year-old's attitude was significantly different after round two, as revealed by Hunt. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"He was obviously pretty cranky, we didn't get a massive spray or anything like that, it was more just a \ufeffdisappointed dad speech, we knew we were wrong and stuffed up," he said.<\/p>\n
