Matthew Lloyd<\/a> has called for Collingwood<\/a> to keep looking for a new head of football as Graham Wright continues to fulfil his leave<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After winning last year's AFL premiership, Wright announced he would take extended leave from March to September this year.\ufeff\ufeff<\/p>\n

Collingwood announced in December it would need to decide on who would fill his duties for six months.<\/p>\n

They landed on Brendan Bolton and Justin Leppitsch to fill various parts of the role in the interim.<\/p>\n

However, Lloyd believes the club should shut the door on Wright and begin looking for his successor quickly.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I made this point on Monday night. If the head of football came up to me and said 'hey, can I have the year off? I'll be back in September', I'd start looking for a new head of football," Lloyd said on Nine's Footy Classified on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Leading journalist Damien Barrett\ufeff explained that filling Wright's role has been difficult, with suggestions that there is growing "friction".<\/p>\n

"Filling his roles has been combined by a lot of people, but particularly Brendan Bolton and Justin Leppitsch," Barrett said.<\/p>\n

"It hasn't been smooth\ufeff. I don't think anyone expected it to be smooth. Craig Kelly, the CEO, has become more hands on.<\/p>\n

\"Graham<\/p>\n

"There has been some friction in that footy department. Friction in footy departments can be healthy. They're actually embracing that side of it as they seek to cover Graham Wright."<\/p>\n

Eddie McGuire quashed Lloyd's suggestion that Wright should\ufeff lose his job before his leave is up.<\/p>\n

"A lot of the good things that happen in football clubs behind the scenes often happen when things aren't going well. And you get whacked for it," McGuire said.<\/p>\n

"Then everyone goes, 'oh, it magically all worked' a couple years later\ufeff.<\/p>\n

\"Collingwood<\/p>\n

"I think he (Wright) is worth persevering with."<\/p>\n

The unrest comes as coach Craig McRae<\/a> has decided to embrace the challenge of beginning their premiership defence 0-2 as pressure mounts to back up last year's top-of-the-table finish.<\/p>\n

The Magpies suffered a 33-point loss to Sydney at the MCG in round one<\/a>, a week after their 32-point loss at the hands of GWS in Opening Round<\/a>.<\/p>\n
