M\ufeffatildas<\/a> World Cup<\/a> hero Cortnee Vine has returned to the Australian squad after taking personal leave for February's Olympic<\/a> qualifying series against Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n

Coach Tony Gustavsson<\/a> revealed on Wednesday his 23-player squad for\ufeff Australia's friendly against Mexico on April 10 (AEST), when the Matildas will suit up in San Antonio as they fine-tune for Paris 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The draws for the women's and men's Olympic football tournaments will be revealed in Paris on Thursday morning (AEDT).<\/p>\n

\ufeffVine, who scored the winning goal in the Matildas' spellbinding penalty shootout against France at the 2023 World Cup<\/a>, is back in the squad after being replaced by forward Sophie Harding when she stepped aside due to undisclosed personal reasons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Defender Courtney Nevin has also returned to the squad, earning a recall after helping steer Leicester City WFC to the Women's FA Cup semi-finals for the first time.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Midfielder Chloe Logarzo has dropped out of the squad for the Mexico match, having suffered a hip injury at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Gustavsson faces the tough\ufeff assignment of slashing a squad of 23 down to 18 for the Olympics.<\/p>\n

"With our opponents revealed at the Olympic draw this Thursday, our extremely challenging assignment over the coming months, and next two FIFA international windows, is to narrow down on the final 18 players that will provide the best chance for success when taking on those rivals in France," Gustavsson said.<\/p>\n

"That those decisions will be difficult speaks to the genuine depth and competition for places that we have created over the past three years.<\/p>\n

"Unfortunately, due to limited roster spots for the Olympics, that results in some very good players in strong form missing out on selection for this window and for the Olympics."<\/p>\n
