UPDATED<\/strong>: Mixed reports have emerged about the cause of death of \ufeffKonstantin Koltsov – the boyfriend of tennis<\/a> superstar Aryna Sabalenka<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The news broke on Tuesday evening that the 42-year-old \ufeffice hockey player and coach had died suddenly in Miami.<\/p>\n

Sabalenka is also in Miami preparing for the Miami Open this week.<\/p>\n

Multiple reports claim Sabalenka intends to still play the tournament, although it has not been made official.<\/p>\n

Police in Miami said the death was "an apparent suicide" and "no foul play is suspected".<\/p>\n

\ufeffHowever, news outlet Telegraf reports Koltsov died of "a detached blood clot".<\/p>\n

Koltsov was part of the Belarus national team at the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

Russian club Salavat Yulaev announced the news on Tuesday.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It is with deep sorrow that we inform you that the coach of Salavat Yulaev, Konstantin Koltsov, has passed away," Russian club Salavat Yulaev said.<\/p>\n

"He was a strong and cheerful person, he was loved and respected by players, colleagues, and fans. Konstantin Evgenievich forever wrote himself into the history of our club.<\/p>\n

"May he rest in peace."<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old also spent time playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League, between 2002 and 2006.<\/p>\n

In 2008, he won the Russian Super League title with his local club Salavat Yulaev\ufeff, where he later returned as a coach.<\/p>\n

\"Aryna<\/p>\n

Sabalenka and Koltsov have been together since 2021.<\/p>\n

The 2024 Australian Open champion was defeated in the round of 16 at Indian Wells last week.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old is scheduled to play her opening match at the Miami Open on Friday.\ufeff<\/p>\n
