Geelong captain Joel Selwood today paid an emotional tribute to legendary club staffer Vic Fuller who unexpectedly passed away on Monday.<\/p>\n
Fuller suffered a stroke and collapsed during a training session yesterday. He could not be revived, with training called off at the time as players were forced to head home.<\/p>\n
The 79-year-old spent nearly 50 years at the club, which included a long-time role as a VFL team manager, while also having a daily presence at Geelong training sessions and featuring on match days.<\/p>\n

An emotional Selwood pulled his playing group aside before today's training session as the entire club held a moment of silence for Fuller.<\/p>\n
"Guys, I just thought it was important that we all come together this morning," Selwood said.<\/p>\n
"Yesterday was very tough for a lot of people. He touched people in many different ways.<\/p>\n
"He'll live on in this footy club. He didn't want things to be about him until it was about him, and he'll be laughing all the way to heaven."<\/p>\n

Cats chief executive Brian Cook last night confirmed the news and admitted it was a "challenging day" for the club to go through.<\/p>\n
"He collapsed right out front [of] the race. He had medical attention within 30 seconds. A defibrillator on him within a minute," Cook said.<\/p>\n
"It's been a really challenging day for a lot of people, especially the senior players and the football staff who've worked with him for a long, long time, because Vic's been around for 50 years.<\/p>\n
"There's been three grief counsellors engaging with our people."<\/p>\n
