C\ufeffameron Smith<\/a> and Greg Alexander<\/a> have taken aim at the Dally M Medal<\/a> voting system, claiming the anonymous two-judge process is "all over the place" this season.<\/p>\n

Over the first two rounds, a number of eyebrow-raising decisions have been criticised within rugby league circles, including Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow<\/a> earning a point in a loss to the Cowboys and Nicho Hynes<\/a> collecting six points in consecutive weeks.\ufeff<\/p>\n

In round two, Tom Dearden<\/a> was awarded three votes by Alexander, who has confirmed his status as a judge, \ufeffwhile the other unnamed expert failed to give the star five-eighth a single point following a golden-point win over the Knights.<\/p>\n

Speaking on SEN Radio, the former Panthers halfback admitted his concerns over the system and believes there needs to be changes made by the NRL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"It is all over the place," Alexander said.<\/p>\n

"A different set of eyes, looking at the same game, sees different things.<\/p>\n

"I don't like the anonymous bit."<\/p>\n

There were a number of tight affairs over the weekend that also had interesting results in the Dally M voting, with no players from the Warriors or Roosters making a dent in the vote count despite solid efforts in close defeats.<\/p>\n

\ufeffIn the clash between the Eels and Panthers on Friday night, the two judges voted in completely opposite ways, with six different players receiving points.<\/p>\n

Smith, who was asked to be a judge in 2024 but declined the offer, \ufeffexplained his own issues with the NRL's process to determine the prestigious award.<\/p>\n

"I like having former players that have played our game judging the best players, but I'm still not convinced by the two judges for one match," he said.<\/p>\n

"I just like the one judge voting and I think there's a bit more consistency in that.<\/p>\n

"It's raised a lot of eyebrows, more often than not, some of the voting and numbers going towards certain players."<\/p>\n

After two rounds of football, Hynes sits atop the leaderboard with 12 votes, \ufeffwhile star fullbacks Ryan Papenhuyzen and Tom Trbojevic sit behind him with 9 each.<\/p>\n
