I find it hard to believe Jahrome Hughes<\/a> is actually facing a suspension for a total accident.<\/p>\n

It's very harsh to charge a player with grade two contrary conduct simply for trying to defend his tryline<\/a>, which he did successfully.<\/p>\n

Hughes was simply unlucky that referee Chris Butler happened to be in the way\ufeff during Saturday night's game against the Warriors.<\/p>\n

And it's not Butler's fault either – referees don't get in the way of play that often, and on the rare occasion it does happen it's just bad luck.<\/p>\n

No one did anything wrong in my mind, it's just sometimes part of rugby league.\ufeff<\/p>\n

What Hughes did was in no way aggressive and it wasn't foul play – he was just desperately trying to do his job in defence.<\/p>\n

Where is he supposed to go in that situation?\ufeff<\/p>\n

If you have to charge a bloke for that then it should be a monetary fine at most, in my opinion.<\/p>\n

Forcing a player out for one or two weeks is ridiculous.<\/p>\n

I'm still trying to work out how a player can be fined twice in one game and escape a ban, while Hughes is facing a suspension for what he did.<\/p>\n

I don't understand the system if those are the punishments they come to.<\/p>\n

\ufeffIt's not right. It doesn't add up.<\/p>\n

I wouldn't blame Melbourne at all for fighting this at the judiciary.<\/p>\n

From what I saw last year there hasn't been much success for clubs heading to the judiciary in recent times, but if there was ever a strong case, I reckon this is it.<\/p>\n

I also think there is some truth to the judiciary panel being influenced by what is said and written in the media.<\/p>\n

I know they are independent and aren't supposed to read or listen to opinions before a heading, but it's silly to think they don't hear and read things.<\/p>\n

If enough people \ufeffare saying how ridiculous the suspension is, the Storm would have to think they're a chance of getting it overturned.<\/p>\n

Then again, who knows what the judiciary lotto might come up with.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHopefully the game can come to its senses and realises Hughes shouldn't be missing a game for what he did.<\/p>\n

I'm not personally offended by what Latrell Mitchell said in an R-rated radio interview with Triple M after Thursday's game.<\/p>\n

But I think it's a bad look for him and the game, and while it does happen occasionally it seemed like Latrell was doing it intentionally during a live interview when he knew lots of people would be listening.<\/p>\n

It was only a week earlier that he was telling people to be better with the words they use.<\/p>\n

My issue wasn't so much with letting a couple of bad words out – we've all done that in the heat of the moment – but I think his comments afterwards about not caring were what angered some people.<\/p>\n

Latrell is a polarising character and people will always pick holes in what he says and does.<\/p>\n

But he's also a role model for a lot of people, and I think he \ufeffwill regret that interview.<\/p>\n
